The Federal Secretary of Tourism, Gloria Guevara Manzo, delivered to the Governor of the state of Guanajuato, Juan Manuel Oliva Ramírez, the designation that makes the community of Mineral de Pozos a 'Pueblo Magico'.

On a working trip to Pozos, Guevara Manzo said that with this new designation for Mineral de Pozos, it brings to forty-nine the number of communities in Mexico benefiting from this program, which creates an explosion of tourism for the towns, creating more jobs and improving the quality of life of its inhabitants.

"Mineral de Pozos has a variety of cultural, natural, artisanal, traditional and gastronomic attractions that should be exploited for the benefit of the population," she said.

The Secretariat of Tourism, Gloria Guevara Manzo, called upon the community of Mineral de Pozos to continue to promote the tourism industry in order to grow their own businesses for the benefit of their families.

She reported that the Federal Government, through the Secretariat of Tourism, will spend 15 million pesos to strengthen the tourism infrastructure in Mineral de Pozos in a first phase.

She stressed that the community has important attractions such as the biosphere reserve, the old mine 'El Triangulo', and the town's traditional bullring, but mainly she emphasized the warmth of its people.

The Secretary of Tourism and the governor received a baton of leadership from a group of dancers from the Chichimeca culture that predominates in the region.

The leader of SECTUR assured everyone that President Felipe Calderón Hinojosa has instructed her as secretary of tourism to work for Mexico in promoting the touristic riches of the country and "with actions such as this, the Federal Government will be building the foundation for a more prosperous Mexico", he said.

Guevara Manzo stressed that the tourism industry generates employment which rebuilds the social fabric and ensures a better quality of life for all inhabitants.

Accompanied by Undersecretary of SECTUR for Operations, Fernando Olivera Rocha, the Secretary acknowledged the commitment of the Government of Guanajuato to make tourism a fulcrum of development.

Guevara Manzo said that she would continue to support the Government of the State of Guanajuato to boost to the tourism sector and make Mexico the quintessential tourist destination worldwide.

For its part, the Governor of Guanajuato, Juan Manuel Oliva Ramírez, recognized the commitment of the Federal Government and the stimulus that it gives the state in the field of tourism by investing in infrastructure and in promotion.

The governor assured all that he will continue working in coordination with the Federal Government to promote the tourism industry.

Moreover, the Secretary of Tourism Development in the state of Guanajuato, Sergio Rodriguez Herrera, thanked the head of SECTUR for the support it provided and continues to provide to tourism since the beginning of its administration, for the benefit of the communities that depend on the sector.

During her working trip, the Secretary of tourism in the company of the Governor, Juan Manuel Oliva Ramírez, also made a tour to observe the construction of the new visitor's center of Pozos, which was made possible through the 'Reallocation of Resources Accord 2011' amounting to 12 million pesos.
