HOW TO GET TO MINERAL DE POZOS

Pozos is located about 185 miles (300km) or 4 hours north of Mexico City on Route 57, the main road to the United States. It is a part of the Municipality of San Luis de la Paz some 8 kilometers to the north. To the immediate east of Pozos in the mountainous region of the Sierra Gorda. Driving from San Miguel follow the Salida a Queretaro past Gigante on the road to Queretaro. At the (second) traffic circle turn right to the Doctor Mora road. Follow the Doctor Mora road through the town of Los Rodriguez and past the town of San Sebatian de Salitre to the interesection with the San Luis de la Paz to San Jose Iturbide road.(The intersection has very good interstate-style signs indicating which way to turn.) Turn north (right) towards San Luis de la Paz and continue on for eighteen kilometers or eleven miles to arrive in Pozos. Transportation can be arranged from San Miguel de Allende to Pozos by calling (in Mexico) 01 442 293 0123. The cost for a round trip by van is 750 pesos for up to six passengers - less for fewer passengers (prices are subject to change without notice, so please call for the current cost). Taxis in San Miguel - and most other towns and cities in the region - will take passengers round-trip to Pozos with three hours to visit. Prices vary and are negociable. There are also scheduled international flights into Mexico City, Leon, Guanajuato (about 2 hours away) and San Luis Potosi (also about 2 hours distant). There is scheduled intercity premiere bus service from virtually all points in the country. However, to get to Pozos by bus, one must travel to San Luis de la Paz or San Jose Iturbide and change to local bus or taxi service. |
